Review by Oliver Warlick:
This book offers nourishment and pockets of wisdom throughout its pages without being too pushy.
It explains the value of realizing one’s own personal aesthetic and how to go about doing so. As a teacher, an artist, and a student, I was able to amass inspiration by reading this book.
The books starts off well and the author does a good job stating their thesis/intent and infusing their personality into the text.
The author's style of writing is appealing, informal, and easily digestible. The author uses childhood memories and adult retrospection to help paint a clear and vivid picture without overdoing any personal-life details.
Many popular art concepts such as the definition of beauty, genius, perfection; are covered in this book in a tactful but very personable way. The author sometimes addresses perennial questions which naturally leave the reader wondering other questions; Then proceeds (in good time) to answer them, as best they can. The book ends on an inspiring note that makes me want to doodle or visit a local art museum/gallery"
